CALIFORNIA DREAMIN : MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF LOS ANGELES CURATED BY HEDI SLIMANE - ALMINE RECH GALLERY - PARIS

Based on an idea by Hedi Slimane, the exhibition California Dreamin will be held from 26 February till 26 March 2011.
Hedi Slimane settled in Los Angeles two years ago, a move which considerably strengthened his long-standing interest in California's arts scene and culture.
In collaboration with Almine Rech Gallery, a artistic landscape emerged and the idea of an exhibition took shape, illustrated by Hedi Slimane's statement on the concept underlying the exhibition : "the approach is on symbols, signs, and fragments, a reduced semiotics, in black and/or white, of "intimate memory/mythology" or on the contrary 'public/propaganda'...

The following artists have been invited to particpate :
John Baldessari, Chris Burden, Bruce Conner, John McCracken, Aaron Curry, Mark Grotjhan, Mark Hagen, Patrick Hill, Dennis Hopper, Mike Kelley, Joel Morrison, Raymond Pettibon, Ed Rusha, Sterling Ruby, Jim Shaw, Bobbi Woods, Aaron Young.

The exhibition will also include works by Bruce Conner and late Dennis Hopper, two key figures and artists who are emblematic of Californian culture.
