MILDRED PIERCE - LA GRANDE DEPRESSION - KATE WINSLET - HBO

En mars 2011, la chaîne américaine HBO proposera une mini série en 5 épisodes : Mildred Pierce. Inspirée du roman de James M. Cain, Mildried Pierce raconte la vie d’une mère de famille de la classe moyenne du Los Angeles des années 1930 qui essaie de maintenir la position sociale des siens confrontés à la Grande Dépression. Une adaptation cinématographique de ce roman à succès est devenu un classique des films noirs du début des années 40. Dans le rôle titre excellait l’inoubliable Joan Crawford. C’est l’actrice déjà oscarisée Kate Winslet que la chaîne HBO a choisie pour interpréter ce personnage complexe aux rapports difficiles avec sa fille.
Après le régal de la première saison de Boardwalk Empire récemment diffusé sur HBO, en se fiant au casting de choix entourant Kate Winslet et à la vue des premiers trailers proposés par la chaîne, Mildred Pierce promet d’être une mini série d’époque d’une qualité une nouvelle fois exceptionnelle.

GOSHA RUBCHINSKIY - FASHION DESIGNER - PHOTOGRAPHER AND FILMMAKER

Moscow and the surrounding subcultures, Rubchinskiy creates more than fashion. Going further than a label, his work is a totality, where orthodoxy meets black metal, sports and skateboard culture; a "gesamtkunstwerk" involving casting photography, design and artistic direction. Rubchinskiy is one of the emerging multitasking creative talents of Europe, but he is still is an exception in his Russian homeland. The label express the unrelayed voice of a youth that has re-appropriated Western culture in a very exclusive and peculiar Russian way. German art and fashion cult magazine 032c invited Gosha Rubchinskiy to show a sort of retrospective of his work in their Berlin gallery, and even though the designer doesn't like the idea of a 'retrospective', it is quite the case. Dazed Digital talked to Gosha Rubchinskiy about his teenage years in Russia, his vision of fashion and some possible future developments.

Combing forces with Montreal's Dead Wife, the track can be found on their split 7-inch, part of a fantastic series released by Swill Children.

PROENZA SCHOULER F/W 2011 AT MBFW NEW YORK

Once upon a time, not all that long ago, there was one thing you could be sure of at a Proenza Schouler show, and that thing was cool. Now, there are two things: cool and craft. Last season, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez obsessed over Japanese shibori dyeing techniques and the process of making guipure lace. For Fall, inspired by a road trip they took to Santa Fe, where they were hipped to the beauty of Native American blankets, they hit the computer to design their own prints. And if that doesn't sound crafty, wait till you hear what happened next. "Then we exploded them and we pixelated them," McCollough said backstage, pointing out the geometric embroideries of a long-sleeved jacquard sheath and the hand-painted panne velvet of other dresses.
