One of the hippest and most beautiful destinations in the world,
the chic Hotel Il Pellicano, located on the Argentario, is a hangout for many from the design, fashion and art worlds. With photographs by the great chroniclers of yesteryear glamour, John Swope and Slim Aarons – who captured the likes of Emilio Pucci, Douglas Fairbanks Jr, Britt Ekland and Susanna Agnelli relaxing here –
as well as recent pictures by Juergen Teller, one of the most influential fine art and fashion photographers working today,
the book presents three artful perspectives on this modern-day
dolce vita.
A visitor's note by Bob Colacello and a full history of the hotel by Bronwyn Cosgrave explore Il Pellicano's illustrious legacy and its continuing seductive allure.
Slim Aarons is known for his photographs of socialites and celebrities; his images of appeared in Life and Town & Country magazines.
John Swope, a co-founder of the hotel, was a photographer at Life and in 1939 published the first book of candid photography of film stars, Camera Over Hollywood.
Juergen Teller's work is published in Vogue, W Magazine, i–D and Purple. He has photographed Marc Jacobs's advertising campaigns for the last decade.
Bob Colacello is Special Correspondent for Vanity Fair. He was editor of Interview magazine for its first 12 years and has written biographies of Andy Warhol and President and Mrs Reagan.
Bronwyn Cosgrave, former features editor for British Vogue, writes on fashion, film and design and is author of Made for Each Other: Fashion and the Academy Awards.
Roberto Sció is the owner of Hotel Il Pellicano
MOVIE MIDNIGHT IN PARIS - WOODY ALLEN - 2011

A romantic comedy about a family traveling to the French capital for business. The party includes a young engaged couple forced to confront the illusion that a life different from their own is better.

Of all the Impressionist night skies (even better choices by Van Gogh) they had to go with the most obvious — the poster sticky-tacked to the walls of half the freshman dorm rooms in the world? This lighting doesn’t really say “Midnight” to me, but anyway, full-size after the cut.

MUSIC -CLAIRE DENIS - FILM SCORES (1996-2009) - 2011

The Constellation record label provides an intoxicating hint at its upcoming 5 disc boxset of music by Tindersticks (and, presumably, the solo work by Stuart A. Staples) for films by Claire Denis: Claire Denis Film Scores (1996-2009).
The score for Trouble Every Day (2001) is, in my humble opinion, the best film score of the 2000s; and the theme (by Staples) for L'intrus is up there as well. Sample some highlights provided by the label below; they make clear, if you weren't already familiar with the Denis-Tindersticks collabs, that the set, out April 26, is a must purchase.
For those lucky residents of London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Paris, the Tindersticks will be performing their music for Denis's films live in April and May this year.

STUDIO WITH M/M (Paris) - MATHIAS AUGUSTYNIAK & MICHAEL AMZALAG - PARIS - 2011

Today photographer Antony Crook steps into the studio of acclaimed graphic design and art direction team M/M (Paris) as they prep a new range of scarves inspired by the artwork on West's latest, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The superstar commissioned M/M's Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag to create an illustrative letterset for the album's liner notes as a complement to its cover art series of five bawdy paintings by American artist George Condo. Augustyniak and Amzalag subsequently approached West with the idea to remix the artistic elements into a range of silk scarves, pairing their baroque-style letters with Condo’s images, such as a severed head wearing a crown and a naked sphinx straddling a likeness of West. Augustyniak and Amzalag have collaborated on artwork and music videos for Björk for over a decade, but working with West was an education—“a complex exploration of power,” in their words. The scarves, which measure almost a square meter in size, will be sold in a limited-edition of 250 (50 of each of five designs) this spring at Colette and www.mmparis.com.
